Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

All Saints University School of Medicine, Dominica offers one Bachelor of Science program in Nursing. Our B.Sc.N program comes in two streams; 3-Year and 4-Year. Both programs culminate in a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and prepares students to challenge both the CARICOM based Regional Examination for Nurse Registration and the United States Based National Council Licensure.

3-Year B.Sc.N

Applicants to the 3-Year (6 semester) program must possess a high school/secondary school diploma or certificate with credits in Mathematics or Calculus, English, Chemistry, and Biology. Applicants must have additionally completed perquisite coursework in university or college equivalent to our curriculum.

4-Year B.Sc.N

Applicants to the 4-Year (8 semester) program must possess a high school/secondary school diploma with credits in Mathematics or Calculus, English, Chemistry, and Biology.

Curriculum

During the first two semesters of the program students are introduced to general education courses that lay the foundation for the following semesters which are predominantly clinical nursing courses. Students are expected to successfully complete all the general education coursework before a seamless transition to the remainder of the nursing program. General Education Courses include Psychology, Sociology, Anatomy, Physiology, Nutrition, and Microbiology.

Students who have completed the prerequisite courses and have been admitted to the third semester of the Bachelor Degree program complete specialized coursework. The nursing courses included in the program are Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Nursing, Care of the Critically ill, Health-Illness Concepts, Mental Health Nursing, Introduction to Midwifery and Obstetrical Nursing, Introduction to Operating Room Nursing, Nursing in Emergency and Disaster Settings, Introduction to Health Informatics, and more.

All Saints University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program comprises a balance of classroom lectures, practical training, and clinical exercises.
